Are you looking to refresh your skin? A chemical peel may be just what you need! Chemical peels can help:
Reduce wrinkles and fine lines
Remove age spots and sun damage
Soften acne scars
Improve overall skin texture
Enhance skin tone and clarity
From "superficial" chemical peels to deep VI peels, find the right peel for you. Take control of your aging process with an effective treatment that yields long-lasting results.
What Is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are a popular cosmetic procedure that involves exfoliating the skin with chemicals. The chemicals used in chemical peels are usually acids such as glycolic acid or lactic acid. The type and strength of the chemical peel will determine how deeply it exfoliates the skin. Superficial peels only affect the outermost layer of the skin, while deeper peels can penetrate the deeper layers of the dermis.
Superficial chemical peels can even skin tone, remove dead cells, and diminish blackheads or whiteheads. Medium to deep peels are more effective for skin tightening and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.
While most people get chemical peels on their faces, they're also popular ways of rejuvenating necks, chests, and hands.
Anti-Aging Peels
A common peel for anti-aging is a TCA, which stands for trichloroacetic acid. TCA peels can vary from very light to deep chemical peels, depending on the concentration of TCA. We use a light to medium-depth TCA peel so they are safely done when paired with other procedures like needling or an IPL.
At Advanced Body Sculpting & Med Spa, we offer the latest and most effective treatments for combating the signs of aging. One of our most popular treatments is a TCA peel – short for trichloroacetic acid.
We offer light to medium-depth TCA peels to meet each individual’s needs and desired results. We can also pair our TCA peel with other treatments such as microneedling in order to get the very best results.
If you’re new to chemical peels and a bit apprehensive about trying one, we recommend our Sensi-peel. This gentle peel is explicitly designed for beginners or those with sensitive skin types, so it will allow you to get a sense of how your skin might respond to deeper exfoliation.
What to Expect From Your Chemical Peel?
Our medical spa works with you to optimize your peel experience and personal comfort. During your peel treatment, you may experience itching, tingling, burning, or redness — all of which should subside after the peel is neutralized. In rare cases, clients may experience skin coagulation or “frosting”.
To get the most out of your chemical peel, our medical spa works with you to optimize your experience and will help determine which type of peel is best for you. Please disclose all home products, retinol use, sensitivity issues, and allergies. Also let us know about sun damage, recent sun exposure, and any past skin trauma.
In general, side effects depend on the depth of the skin peel and proper pre- and post-care.
Before and After Your Chemical Peel
Before you come in for your treatment, you'll want to discontinue all retinol use for 7 days prior to the peel. You should also avoid extensive sun exposure.
Make-up can be worn after 24 hours. Note that you may experience peeling in days 4 through 10. This is natural — the effect of your skin shedding dead cells post-treatment.
Wait 7 days before applying any products containing retinol.
